Areas in Section 5 of the Accessible Canada Act
Employment
This objective component ensures that applicants and employees who experience barriers are supported.
EnviroTech Aviation’s work force is exclusively made of commercial pilots and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs). Both fields of employment are safety critical professions in the aviation industry. Whereas Federal regulations requires that pilots must fully meet the physical requirements of and secure their Aviation Medical Certificate, the nature of the work of AMEs also require that these individuals be able to complete all physical requirements of their profession with or without reasonable accommodations.
For new applicants, our interview process incorporates a section for candidates to comment should they require a workplace accommodation. Disabilities are not always visible, and individual may not declare them during the selection and hiring process so we may not have a true understanding of who may experience challenges. Open communications are at the forefront and will serve to educate so our employees are aware that support is available.
Build Environment
This objective component ensures that workspaces and the work environment are accessible for all.
EnviroTech Aviation Inc. only performs contracted aerial surveillance services for our customers and as such, our building is not accessible to the general public except by appointment only.
As part of our survey carried out on the 2nd quarters of 2024, we have amended our facility workplace audits with focus on common areas such as entrances, office workspace and washrooms. Future building renovations or additions to our facilities will have considerations for people who may have mobility restrictions.
Information and Communication Technology
This objective component deals with information and communications technologies as well as various tools used to send, store, create share, or exchange information.
As part of our survey carried out on the 2nd quarters of 2024, inherent comprehensive learning requirements for our personnel confirmed that individual considered to be blind would not be able to secure employment with our company.
We recognized that some individuals may have various degrees of visual impairment. Therefore, options to modify display or printer output is currently available. Computer-generated content can also be enlarged on the monitor or printer, thereby allowing individuals with low vision to use standard word processing, spreadsheets, email, and other software applications.
AME personnel have been provided with laptops to enhance accessibility in the workplace, including flexibility options such as adjusting monitor resolutions and font sizes according to visual needs.
Alternative communication channels such as Teams and video conference media will be made available as the need arise.
Communication other than ICT
This objective component focus on reducing and preventing barriers in communication, other than information and communications technologies. EnviroTech Aviation proactively monitor feedback, inviting individuals with disabilities to let us know if the experienced any barriers when interreacting with our website and other related information materials. We also welcome suggestion on how we can make our information and communications more accessible.
Furthermore, our company will stive to research new communication methods in variety of different mediums.
Procurement of Goods, Services and Facilities
This objective component of goods, services and facilities area ensure that accessibility is considered at the beginning of the buying process.
As part of our aerial surveillance operation, our company performs in-house aircraft maintenance functions for and only our aircraft fleet therefore, we are not involved in providing goods or services to the public.
Since we do receive supplies and services from external vendors to support our maintenance operation, as part of the Build Environment component of the accessibility plan, we focused on common areas such as entrances, office
workspace and washrooms. As such, all future building renovations or additions to our facilities will have considerations for people who may have mobility restrictions.
Design and Delivery of Program and Services
This objective component pertains to designing and delivering the company’s internal and external programs and services, accessibility considerations are to be part of the process right from the start.
As new aviation products and technologies are considered, evaluations will be carried out with the aim to determine the potential impact to our operation and barriers.
Transportation
For our organization, this objective refers to the transportation of people and/or goods.
EnviroTech Aviation only provides aerial surveillances services to our customers, and we do not transport people or goods. This component of the regulations is not applicable to our company.
Consultations
To align with our company’s commitments to make our workplace environment accessible to all, we have developed our accessibility plan in consultation with our employees.
The survey carried out on the 2nd quarters of 2024 provided us with valuable information feedback. Moving forward, as part of our in-house orientation process, all employees are continuously encouraged to report all suggestion for improvements as part of our Occurrence Report protocols.
